In our humble opinion, among the international cinematographic overview, Giancarlo Giannini plays the role of a style icon for his unmistakable Italian style.

Giancarlo was born in La Spezia on August the 1st of 1942; he is mostly recognized as an actor but he also is a very successful voice over actor and director. He got married with director Livia Giampalmo but then divorced in 1975 to get married a second time in 1983 with actress Eurilla Del Bono. His career has been scattered by great names of actors, directors and screenwriters: Lina Wertmuller, Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi, Luchino Visconti, Ettore Scola.. it is impossible not to remember one of his unforgettable movies “ Travolti da un insolito destino nell’azzurro male d’agosto “ an Italian cult movie in which reality and comedy blend between him and Mariangela Melato his female counterpart.

Giancarlo is one of the few Italian actors to have landed in Hollywood using the main door by playing important roles even if never as a main actor: we are talking about movies such as “Hannibal”,  “Man on Fire” where he plays the role of a detective who helps Denzel Washington in the research of a kidnapped baby girl; or the well known Renè Mathis, the secret agent who supported Daniel Craig in the first two movies of the James Bond saga “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace”. But this is just a tiny part of Mr. Giannini ‘s amazing career, as it might happen or it has already happened to you to listen to his voice but not to immediately recall it to him: some examples are the cynical Gordon Gekko in “Wall Street”, or the Joker played by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton’s “Batman”, or again Jack Nicholson in “The Departed”; or also Al Pacino in timeless movies such as “Scent of a Woman”, “Donnie Brasco”, “Carlitos’s way”. We only mention a few as the list would be way too long but it is impossible not to recall the most famous ones.

Not everyone pays much attention to this gentleman’s style, and it is especially for this that we have strongly wanted to include him in our style icons: he perfectly represents what in the world is recognized as  “Italian style”. Class ed elegance, our own universally recognized duo, are embodied by Giancarlo who makes his style a real trademark: ease in wearing different garments from coats to jackets to ties and hats…all in the right proportions which prove his attention and care to detailsWearing the sweater above the shoulders is a practice born in Italy and then extended to the rest of the world…many people prefer to create a contrast between the color of the shirt and the one of the sweater, meanwhile he prefers to go for a tone on tone: surely more distinguished.

A good gentleman perfectly knows the weapons of his job. The perfect boat style but not too pretentious…a sand colored cotton suit with a denim shirt…probably, if you don’t have a certain attitude, this look might look too strict, yet the unshaved beard, the hair messed up by the wind and the natural attitude that we are used to see in this man, makes this outfit iconic and inspiring.

The tie knot is a must for him…few actors like Giannini have the perfect tie in every single scene and this makes us think that this isn’t a simple rule coming from the movie set but a  forma mentis which reflects his character.

He is one of those icons, like the other ones on our platform, which are considered so because they are the same in everyday life.. many actors and famous characters make history thanks to certain roles that they have played in front of a photo or video camera, but then while analyzing their daily life we find a true doubling that we almost cannot recognize them anymore.

Thanks to his immense talent while acting in theatres, tv or cinema, two very well know brands have chosen  Giancarlo to film some commercials divided into episodes.
